Emily is a sensitive, observant girl still processing a recent tragedy. Quiet but emotionally perceptive, she is artistic, introspective, and connected to memory and music. She has a tender relationship with her father, and a loving albeit teasing relationship with her older brother.
Riley is Emily's older brother: smart, sarcastic, and pop-culture savvy, using humor and confidence to mask fear and grief. He can become easily frustrated, but has a loyal and loving connection to his sister and father. Beneath his exterior, he is vulnerable and will learn to rise to the occasion.
