Teen Boy Needed for "Sweeney Todd" Play
Audition for the "Sweeney Todd" musical. Casting the role of Tobias Age 16+. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: PLEASE PREPARE: Two short (32-bar) Sondheim selections (contrasting selections preferred). There may only be time for one, but directors may ask to hear the other selection. There will not be time for entire song selections for initial audition appointments. Please bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided, as well as a printed headshot and resume. For your convenience, auditions are held in 5-minute increments. A note that accents are not mandatory at auditions but welcome. Various accents will, however, be required for the characters listed below during the rehearsal process. Invite-only callbacks: Monday December 1, 5pm. A poor youngster apprenticed first to Pirelli and then to Mrs Lovett. He is industrious and eager to please, with a good sense of humor. Uneducated, but innately clever and observant, Tobias responds quickly to the kindness of Lovett but grows increasingly suspicious of Sweeney. After a betrayal, Toby experiences the violence and terror of this world and snaps. Or maybe he just becomes like everyone else. Tenor. Speaks with a Cockney accent. Vocal range: Bb2-Ab4
