Teen Performers Needed for Theatre Audition "Antigone"
Seeking late teen actors for "Antigone" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Jean Anouilh's play Antigone is a tragedy inspired by the play of the same name by Sophocles. Two brothers, Eteocles and Polyneices, have killed each other in battle. Their uncle Creon ascends to the throne and orders that Eteocles be given a state funeral, and Polyneices is to be left outside the city gates to be eaten by wild animals. Anyone trying to bury Polyneices is to be put to death. Antigone, their sister, defies her uncle’s decree. Her passion and strength set her in opposition to Creon, the most powerful man in the world. Antigone’s sister. Sympathetic to Antigone, but not as bold.
Members of a paramilitary state security force. The First Guard is a substantial supporting role; the other two guards are featured.
Brings news of Antigone and Haemon’s deaths. A smaller role, but with a great monologue. Played by a young Marlon Brando on Broadway in 1948.
