Ava is sharp, observant, and far more emotionally aware than her father realizes. Protective of both Joe and her younger sister, she often masks her anxiety with sarcasm and dry humor, quietly stepping into an emotional caretaker role long before she should have to. Though she sometimes clashes with Joe, Ava understands him deeply and sees the exhaustion he tries so hard to hide. Beneath her guarded exterior is a deeply compassionate kid struggling to make sense of watching both her father and grandfather grow older in real time. Mature Content: There is a scene in the script in which a blow-up doll is discussed after a man in a nursing home is caught with one. The scene does not involve any of the minors. WE ARE ONLY CASTING LOCAL HIRES FOR THIS ROLE, MUST BE ABLE TO WORK LOCALLY IN RICHMOND, VA. Rate is $500. SUPPORTING ***ELLA KEEGAN Girl; 13 to 15 years old; White. Ella is warmhearted, curious, and still young enough to approach the world with a kind of openness the adults around her have started to lose. More optimistic and emotionally expressive than Ava, she brings moments of levity and tenderness into the family, often without realizing it. While she doesn’t fully understand the weight Joe is carrying, Ella instinctively senses when people are hurting and tries to comfort them in the small, genuine ways only kids can.
