About the project: Synopsis When a close-knit book club agrees to be filmed for a documentary, its members promise to behave naturally. But with the camera always watching and a provocative new member joining the group, polite literary discussions quickly give way to long-held secrets, personal rivalries, and unexpected revelations. Karen Zacarías’s The Book Club Play is a fast-paced comedy about friendship, self-image, and what happens when people begin reading between the lines.
