About the project: "Return to Carrascolendas" chronicles the history of the groundbreaking bilingual children’s educational television program Carrascolendas and the legacy of its creator, Aida Barrera. Produced in Austin and broadcast nationally starting in the 1970s, Carrascolendas was a pioneer for Latinx representation both in front of and behind the camera. These recreated vignettes will capture the heart, nostalgia, and educational impact of the original show.
