11 roles
Male presenting. The hero of the story. Bright, imaginative, determined, and endlessly hopeful, Ralphie is a typical young boy whose entire world revolves around one Christmas wish: a Red Ryder BB gun. As Christmas approaches, he launches a campaign to convince the adults in his life that he is responsible enough to own it, encountering obstacles, disappointments, and unexpected adventures along the way.
Male Presenting. Ralphie's younger brother. Endearing, dramatic, and often bewildered by the world around him, Randy possesses a talent for turning ordinary childhood inconveniences into full-scale crises. He revels in being the baby of the family, but looks up to his brother despite not seeing eye to eye with him at times.
Male Presenting. One of Ralphie's closest friends and a loyal member of the neighborhood gang. Schwartz is energetic, quick-thinking, and eager to keep up with the adventures, schemes, and misadventures of childhood. Like many boys his age, he is fascinated by playground legends, daring challenges, and the unwritten rules of kid culture. His involvement in the infamous "triple-dog-dare" incident helps set one of the story's most memorable events in motion.
Male presenting. One of Ralphie's best friends and a key member of the neighborhood trio. Flick is spirited, competitive, and determined not to back down from a challenge—especially when his friends are watching. His desire to prove himself leads directly to one of the most famous moments in the story when a simple dare escalates far beyond anyone's expectations.
Female presenting Esther Jane is one of Ralphie's classmates and friends. Sweet, confident, and self-assured, Esther Jane and Helen are inseparable best friends. Esther has an innocent childhood crush on Ralphie.
Female presenting. A classmate of Ralphie's and one of the most popular girls in Miss Shields' classroom. Confident, poised, and self-assured, Helen represents the social hierarchy of elementary school from Ralphie's perspective. She carries herself with a maturity that seems impressive to her classmates and often serves as a reminder of the social pressures and awkwardness of growing up.
Male/Femaie presenting. The neighborhood bully and self-appointed king of the playground. Scut Farkus terrorizes Ralphie and his friends, thriving on intimidation and fear. With their wild confidence, swagger, and larger-than-life presence, they seem almost mythical through the eyes of the younger children. Despite their tough exterior, there are hints that their aggression masks insecurity and vulnerability.
MUST be shorter than Farkus. The smaller, meaner sidekick to Scut Farkus who blindly idolizes Farkus while delighting in tormenting the neighborhood children.
