About the project: Once Upon a Mattress is a joyful, fast-paced musical comedy that turns the classic fairy tale The Princess and the Pea on its head. Filled with larger-than-life characters, romance, physical comedy, and memorable songs, the show follows the unconventional Princess Winnifred as she arrives at a kingdom where no one can marry until Prince Dauntless finds a suitable bride. The sheltered prince of the kingdom. Sweet-hearted, earnest, and good-natured, Dauntless has spent his life under the control of his mother and struggles to assert himself. A lady-in-waiting and Sir Harry's devoted sweetheart. Romantic, emotional, and often dramatic, she finds herself caught between societal expectations and her desire to build a future with Harry. Quick-witted, energetic, and resourceful, the Jester uses humor to navigate a rigid world while remaining fiercely loyal to the King. The citizens of the kingdom, including knights, ladies-in-waiting, servants, musicians, soldiers, and members of the royal court. Ensemble members help create the world of the show through featured moments, musical numbers, character work, and comedy.
