Camden, ME, United States

Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Seeking girls for "1776" the musical. See the details below. About the project: Far more than a history lesson, 1776 reminds us that the challenges of self-government are as old as the nation itself. Set during the summer of 1776, the musical follows the delegates of the Continental Congress as they struggle through disagreement, competing interests, clashing personalities, and deeply held convictions in pursuit of a common future. Rather than presenting the Founding Fathers as distant icons, 1776 reveals them as real people— brilliant, stubborn, ambitious, fearful, flawed, funny, and profoundly human. Faced with differences that seemed impossible to reconcile, they discovered that progress required patience, compromise, persuasion, and a willingness to work together. Following John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and their fellow delegates, the story explores the difficult process of forging consensus at a moment when the stakes could not have been higher. Their struggles, disagreements, and triumphs remain strikingly familiar today. At a time when many of the same questions continue to challenge us, 1776 reminds us that progress has always depended on the messy process of cooperation among people who don't agree. Filled with wit, intelligence, humor, and powerful drama, 1776 remains one of the most beloved and thought-provoking musicals ever written.
