Child Auditions for Musical Production "Matilda"

Phoenix, AZ, United States
ID: 608118Exp: 6/15/2026
Description:

Young performers wanted for the musical production “Matilda”. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Inspired by Roald Dahl’s inspiring book of the same name, Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers. Unloved by her cruel parents, she finds belonging with her schoolteacher, Miss Honey, and her librarian, Mrs. Phelps, in telling imaginative stories. However, the school's wicked headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, has set her sights on making life difficult for the schoolchildren. Using her courage, cleverness, and perhaps a bit of magic, Matilda finds ways of fighting back against the forces of injustice around her. Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda The Musical is a captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Additional info: Performances August 14 - 30, 2026 WHAT TO HAVE READY FOR THE AUDITION: A song that showcases your voice and is appropriate for you and the character you are auditioning for. How long should the song be? Good question. The answer is: as long as it needs to be for you to feel you have shown us how amazing you are! Chances are that's around :30 to 1 minute, but it may be longer or shorter. You may not get to sing the whole song, so make sure you get to "the good part" sooner rather than later. You don't have to start at the beginning of the song. We just want to see how you sing! A headshot. It doesn't have to be professional. Just a good photo that looks like you! You can take it with a camera phone if you'd like. Make sure you have good lighting so we can see your face. An acting or theater resume. You don't have to have one all fancy and ready to upload (although you certainly can). We just want to know what you have done performance-wise and in theater. If you worked on the stage crew, put that in there too! Business Casual Dress. Not too fancy, comfortable, but with a more professional look. A Water Bottle. This is Arizona! You need to stay hydrated and energized. If you can, it's a good idea to pre-register. You will fill out the audition form online beforehand, so you won't have to fill it out when you get to the theater. Please see the attachment for details. If you are interested, please apply.
