About the project: "Abilene" is a grounded, character-driven drama set in the heart of rural Ohio, where the rhythms of farm life mirror the hopes and hardships of people who call the area home. When Abby Morgan, a gifted young singer running from a devastating past, arrives at the local cider mill in Fair Haven, Ohio, looking for work, she is not searching for opportunity. She is searching for escape. Carrying the weight of a devastating loss and a silence she cannot break, Abby is a young woman who has walked away from the very thing that once defined her: music. What begins as a temporary stop becomes something more complicated. The Wagner family, struggling to keep their mill alive after the loss of their own patriarch, slowly draws her into their fragile orbit. In their unfinished conversations, strained loyalties, and quiet acts of resilience, Abby sees reflections of her own unspoken grief. Across the season, boundaries blur. Guarded hearts soften.
