Jackson is an artist, an emo, and a teenager. He has also recently come out as ftm transgender. After spending most of his life trying to conform to what others have told him he should be, Jackson is struggling to live as his authentic self, and to cope with the scrutiny and judgement of those around him. Jackson struggles with anxiety, self-doubt, and a tendency to people-please, complicated by intense gender dysphoria - as he knows he doesn’t look exactly like a boy yet.
Robin is a high school girl and childhood friend of Jackson's. She tries to act confident, but she is insecure and cares too much about her image. Despite their best efforts, Robin and Jackson have never been in the popular circle. Robin is afraid of not fitting in and being an outcast, and views her best friend coming out as trans as just making life harder for both of them. Her expressions of her insecurity causes damage to Jackson that she doesn’t understand.
