Casting Call for "Starting Over" Short Film
Chapman University film students are looking to cast talented, passionate child actors for our next short film, STARTING OVER. A young boy, wanting to be alone, runs away from home. He sets out on his bike, but to his dismay, his younger sister decides to run away with him. Audition Date(s): Please submit a headshot and self-tape by January 30, 2026. SAM (10 - 16) has feelings bigger than a kid his age should have – feelings he doesn’t know what to do with. The people around him don’t know what to do with them either, so he spends a lot of time by himself, where at least he can exist without being questioned. His tether to regular adolescent life is his sister, Mallory.
MALLORY (7 – 11) asks a lot of questions, mostly because she’s a younger sister to a brother who doesn’t have a lot of answers. She’s caring, but she’s also a little kid, so sometimes her care comes in the form of name-calling and antagonizing. She loves her brother, even if she can’t understand him.
