About the project: Anastasia is both a heartwarming and heart-wrenching dive into one of history’s biggest unanswered questions: what happened to Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov? Set amidst the turmoil of the Russian revolution with the Bolshevik regime on the rise, Anya, an amnesiac orphan stranded in what was once the Russian capital, St. Petersburg, is on a quest to rediscover her past which she believes lies in Paris. Joined by a dashing conman, Dmitry, and an ex-aristocrat, Vlad Popov, who want to use Anya to bamboozle the only remaining Romanov, the Dowager Empress, into believing that Anya is the lost Anastasia, she escapes to Paris with a determined Soviet officer on their heels. Including classic songs from the motion picture like “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December”, Anastasia explores one determined girl’s journey to find home, love, and family as she discovers who she was and embraces who she is meant to be. Additional info: Just show up, and you will be seen in the order you arrive. Of course, if you’re asked to stay to read and/or dance, you may be around a while. If auditioning for a musical, prepare a brief song in the style of the show and have sheet music in the proper key. The song should showcase the style and vocal range of the character for which you are auditioning. This should be something that you are very comfortable with, not something you just learned recently. Also, bring proper footwear to dance in if needed. For non-musicals, you will be given pre-selected sides from the script. Rehearsals begin Monday, February 2, and will generally be held Monday through Thursday evenings, 7 pm to 10 pm. Performances will be held in The Kweskin Theatre, March 27 through April 18. (No show, Sunday, April 5.) Evening performances at 7:30 pm / Sundays at 2:00 pm. Two Thursday evenings, April 9 and 16, at 7:30 pm. NOTE: You must be available for a possible one-week extension through April 25, which would include adding a performance on Sunday, April 19.
