Musical Auditions: "Man of La Mancha" Seeks Teenagers
2026 Spring Musical Auditions: "Man of La Mancha". Age Requirements: Actors in 9th grade and up are welcome to audition. Please see the details below. About the project: Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ 17th-century masterwork Don Quixote and set during the Spanish Inquisition, this 90-minute play tells of one man’s quest to bring back chivalry. While Cervantes is in prison awaiting trial, he and his fellow prisoners perform a play-within-a-play about the elderly Alonso Quijana, who, enamored by tales of knight errantry, renames himself “Don Quixote” and envisions a quest. He recruits peasant farmer, Sancho Panza, as his squire who accompanies him fighting a giant/windmill, wooing Lady Dulcinea, brawling muleteers and dueling the Knight of the Mirrors. This award-winning show is one of the world’s most popular musicals. Additional info: Approximately 16-32 bars (roughly a verse and chorus) from any similar classical musical.
