"Anastasia" The Musical Seeking Child and Teen Performers
“Anastasia” The Musical Seeks Child and Teen Performers. See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Based on the beloved 20th Century Fox animated film, Anastasia is a sweeping, emotional journey into one of history’s most enduring mysteries: the fate of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov. Set against the upheaval of the Russian Revolution as the Bolshevik regime rises to power, the story follows Anya, an amnesiac orphan surviving in what was once the imperial capital of St. Petersburg. Believing her past—and her future—lie in Paris, Anya sets out to uncover the truth of who she is. Along the way, she is joined by the charming conman Dmitry and the displaced aristocrat Vlad Popov, who hope to pass her off as the lost Romanov heir to deceive the Dowager Empress Marie. As the trio flees Russia, they are relentlessly pursued by a determined Soviet officer, raising the stakes of Anya’s quest. At its core, Anastasia is a story of identity and self-discovery. While the animated film embraces fantasy, the stage adaptation grounds Anya’s journey in psychological realism, framing her amnesia as the result of profound trauma following the Romanov tragedy. As she evolves from a hardened street sweeper into a confident young woman—and ultimately confronts the truth of her heritage—Anya claims ownership of her story, choosing personal freedom and love over the promise of royal restoration.
