Teens Needed for “Disney’s Newsies” The Broadway Musical — Details Below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: It's time to carry the banner with Disney's Newsies! Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenage 'newsies'. When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboy's expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what is right. Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony award-winning score by Alen Menken, including cult classic songs such as "Carrying the Banner", "Sieze the Day", and "Santa Fe". Newsies is packed with exciting choreography, powerful vocals, and with a set that is reminiscent of the iconic Broadway production, this production will most definitely be one for the books!
