4 roles
Mixed (Black and White). A shy but charismatic teenager who tries to act tougher than he really is. G is caught between two worlds, his mom’s structured life and the street energy of his older friends. He is funny, curious, and eager to fit in, but he carries a quiet grief from losing his father. His need for belonging makes him take risks he does not fully understand.
South Asian or Middle Eastern (Indian or Arab). Confident, street-smart, and magnetic. O has big brother energy and people naturally follow his lead. He is loyal and protective, but also impulsive and restless. He hides his frustration behind humor and bravado. Tone/Performance Notes: Needs charisma and a sense of control mixed with unpredictability. Think Ramy or Dope in tone. The actor should balance charm with flashes of recklessness.
Calm, smart, and quietly observant. Stats is the realist of the group. He cracks jokes but usually knows when things are getting dangerous. He goes along with his friends even when he knows better. Tone/Performance Notes: Understated and natural. The performance should rely on body language and small reactions rather than big expressions. Think Lakeith Stanfield in Atlanta.
Unstable, intense, and unpredictable. He can be funny one second and frightening the next. He carries himself with confidence and danger, someone who has seen real violence and is comfortable in it. Tone/Performance Notes: The danger should come from how casual he is about doing violent things. Play him real and grounded, not over the top. Think Denzel Washington in Training Day or Tupac in Juice.
