About the project: In this powerful new adaptation, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hidiing from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, the show captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence - their fear, hope, laughter, and grief. Additional info: A rehearsal schedule will be prepared based on the cast's availability. (Note: There will be no rehearsals Nov. 27-28, Dec. 24-26, and Dec. 31 – Jan. 1.) Intelligent, spirited, often impatient, hopeful, and desperate with all the longings and attitudes of adolescence. Though hiding and living in constant fear and isolation, she never gives up. She has a fraught relationship with her mother, adores her father, and lovingly envies her sister.
Pretty, quiet, obedient, overwhelmed by the trials of hiding. Very close to her mother and father. Like Anne, she longs for a friend in whom she can confide. She plays the role of peacemaker when Anne oversteps. She is a good girl and admired by all.
Shy, awkward, immature, sometimes amusing, attached to his cat. He tries to stay out of everyone’s way and hates his mother and father’s constant quarrels. Ages range from the introverted teenager to the more mature boy who enjoys the company of the girls and who begins to be interested in all the other occupants of the Annex.
