Teen Theatre Casting Call for "Avenue Q" Play

Shelton, CT, United States
ID: 590083Exp: 8/22/2025
Description:

Performers in Grades 9-12 are welcome to audition for "Avenue Q" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Because the original Avenue Q has some content elements that are adult-centered, the Avenue Q authors have created an adaptation that maintains the dramatic (and comedic) intention and integrity of the piece, while editing it to make it more appropriate for high school audiences and performers. Additional info: Participants should plan to sing one-minute of a song of a musical theatre (comedy), or Avenue Q song of their choice. Tentative Callbacks (if needed): Monday, August 25th. Rehearsals: Saturdays, 10:00-1:00 (Full Cast) & Mondays/Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00/8:30 (Full Cast) and Leads/Featured Roles/Small Groups will rehearse from 9:00-10:00 on Saturday mornings, if needed. The full rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the first rehearsal/Parent Meeting on Wednesday, August 27th. Important/Mandatory Dates: Tech Week: 10/20-10/23 Performances: 10/24-10/26 (Performance Times TBD - 7:30 PM and 2:00 PM performances should be expected.
