Singing Audition for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to audition for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". Please see the details below. About the project: Because of his shiny nose, Rudolph doesn't feel like he belongs in Christmastown and sets off to find a place that accepts him. Along his journey, he encounters fellow misfits, only to realize that home is where he has belonged the whole time. When a storm threatens to keep Santa's sleigh from taking flight, what makes Rudolph different turns out to be what helps him save Christmas! Additional info: It is understood that students coming from various schools may arrive at later times. Parent permission forms should be filled out on arrival. Auditions will conclude at varied times depending on number of students, number of times needed to read on stage, etc. Please plan for a way for your child to quickly and easily contact you after their audition. Step 1: Students should select and prepare 60-90 seconds of a musical theater or Disney song for auditions in the choir room. Please bring your own music (on a phone, tablet, etc.), and use a karaoke track/music with no voices. Step 2: After vocal auditions, students will read lines from the show on stage provided by Commander Company. See the attachment for details if you plan to audition for the ensemble. The story's narrator - and a snowman! Sam should be a strong singer and actor. As the narrator, the audience should understand every word Sam says!
This lovable misfit struggles to fit in due to his glowing, red nose. Rudolph should be an excellent actor and singer; the emotional heart of the story.
A doe who is kind to Rudolph. Clarice sings "There's Always Tomorrow."
Needs no introduction! Choose a more mature actor with a great stage presence who can act, carry a tune, and embody this significant character role.
Another classic Christmas character. Cast an actor in this role that can make strong character choices and can be kind but firm with her husband.

A bit of an odd elf-he doesn't want to make toys; he wants to be a dentist!
Boss Elf grumbles about Hermey's interest in dentistry, but it's only because he cares so much about making perfect toys for Santa - he doesn't mean any harm.
One of the yearlings. He is not particularly nice to Rudolph after his glowing nose is revealed.
The Elves (Elf 1, Elf 2, Elf 3, Elf 4 sing solos) are Santa's helpers and the choral backbone of the show.
