About the project: Experience the magic of the season with A Christmas Carol: The Musical, a joyous and heartfelt retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic tale. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Mike Ockrent, this Broadway-style adaptation follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge as he takes a life-changing journey through Christmases past, present, and future. Brimming with lively songs, dazzling moments, and a timeless message of hope and redemption, this festive musical is the perfect holiday treat for the whole family. Additional info: Callbacks: Sunday, September 28 | 1 – 5 PM. REHEARSAL & PRODUCTION SCHEDULE: Rehearsals for A Christmas Carol will begin on Monday, October 20th, at The Nebraska Communities Playhouse. Rehearsals will generally take place on weeknights between 6:00–10:00 PM. Performances will be December 12-14 & 19-21. (Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 2:00 & 7:30, Sundays at 2:00) You may not be called for every rehearsal, but unless you’ve submitted a conflict in advance, you are expected to be available during these times. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be shared once the show is cast and we’ve reviewed the cast’s availability. The directors will do their best to accommodate known conflicts shared at the time of the audition. Please note: Starting Monday, December 1st, they ask that cast members have no conflicts. These final days will include full run-throughs and technical rehearsals, and full cast participation is essential. Strike (the breakdown and cleanup of the set, costumes, props, and technical equipment) will take place immediately after the closing show, and all cast members are required to stay and participate. A quiet, boy sent away to boarding school and factory work after the imprisonment of his father and death of his mother, Child Scrooge offers a glimpse into the roots of the man he becomes.
