"A Christmas Story" Musical Needs Kids
Looking for child performers for "A Christmas Story" Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The Performance Program Scholarship from within the Theatre School includes a weekly stipend, parking, and seminars, in addition to working and learning with a professional company of artists and staff in A CHRISTMAS STORY. Additional info: All kids will be double-cast, with each team performing 4 to 5 shows per week in front of an audience of 900+ at each performance. Rehearsals are Tuesday-Sunday, and the kids are called after 3:00 PM on most weekdays. There are rehearsals all day on weekends, and longer hours beginning on Nov 12 for technical rehearsals before performances begin on Nov 18. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on October 28, 2025. [LEAD ROLE] Boy (or girl who can play a boy). His voice must be UNCHANGED. A regular, cute midwestern kid. Bright, mischievous, and adventurous, but not precocious. Seeking a young kid who comes across on stage as real, but still has a large presence and personality. Must be an excellent singer and dancer, and able to carry a show. High belter.
[SUPPORTING ROLE] Boy. Ralphie’s lovable younger brother. Smaller than Ralphie; cute, cuddly, and whiny. He admires his big brother, Ralphie, but won’t admit it. Seeking a young kid who is confident being on stage and comes across as real. Boy’s unchanged voice. High belter.
[SUPPORTING ROLE] Must not be much taller than 5’. A meanie – the bully; Taller than the other kids; there’s nothing about him you want to like. He’s that kid you always made sure to avoid in school. He is loud, obnoxious and intimidating.
