Seeking performers ages 12-15 years old for "New Moon and Emily Starr" Play. Please see the details below. About the project: New Moon and Emily Starr follows young Emily Starr - a spirited and imaginative orphan - sent to live with her strict Aunt Elizabeth and relatives at New Moon Farm in the late 1890s on Prince Edward Island. Though stifled by her austere Aunt Elizabeth, Emily finds support in kind Aunt Laura and eccentric Cousin Jimmy. At school, Emily struggles with bullying, unsympathetic teachers and her unrelenting desire to write poetry. She also develops powerful friendships with Fredi, Ted and Perry. As Emily's writing talent blooms, she challenges societal norms and defies expectations, determined to become a writer despite opposition. Through personal growth, defiant resilience, and chosen family, Emily discovers her place in the world while honoring her father's memory. Additional info: Read through will be Saturday, August 2, 2025. Time will be determined later. Rehearsals will be Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the last 2 weeks before the show, then they will be more frequent. Times will be determined after the show is cast based on time constraints and conflicts of the cast. Production dates are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 28-30, 2025.
