Seeking Kids and Teens for "The Little Mermaid" Show
Talents ages 8 and up are invited to audition for "The Little Mermaid" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. Additional info: Please come prepared with a 16-bar (approximately 1 minute) song from a musical (preferably Disney) that you feel showcases your vocal ability. A wireless speaker will be available for tracks, or feel free to sing a cappella. Alternatively, you can bring sheet music for our music director to play for you! There will be audition dance workshops held at the theater on Tuesday, August 5th, and Thursday, August 7th from 6-8. Come meet the director and choreographer, and have some fun getting help on your audition dance. There will be sides available for cold readings at the directing team’s discretion. There will be a mandatory cast (and parents of cast under age 16) meeting on Thursday, August 14th at 6:00 pm followed directly by a read/listen-through for the entire cast. The meeting should last approximately 30 minutes, and it is where we collect production fees and go over expectations etc. Rehearsals will run Sunday afternoons, 1:00-5:00 pm at the theatre and Tuesday/Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 pm at Watson Academy. A human monarch who has no interest in taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more.
Prince Eric's British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage.
A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water.
A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise.
King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans.
A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way.

The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular.
