"Shrek Jr. the Musical" Needs Boys and Girls
Seeking kids and teens for "Shrek Jr. the Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Shrek The Musical JR. is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family Additional info: Actors should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song in the style of Shrek the Musical that highlights their vocal abilities. You may sing acapella or bring a recording to play for your accompaniment. You MAY be asked to sing part of a Shrek the Musical Jr song at the callback audition, so it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with Big Bright Beautiful World, Story of My Life, I Know Its Today, and Travel Song. They can be found on YouTube. Actors will also participate in learning and performing a short, choreographed dance as part of the audition therefore, it is recommended that auditionees should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that will not inhibit their movement. It is also highly recommended to bring a water bottle. Please note that reading selections from the script will not be part of the first audition. It is very important that you show us your acting skills as you sing your song and perform the dance. Please arrive at the Audition a few minutes early and be prepared to complete the forms. (vocal range: G2 to D4) Wonderful roles for performers with natural stage presence and big, clear voices. These characters are important for setting up the world and moving the story forward with bold energy! These must be strong singers capable of singing harmonies in a trio.
(vocal range: A3 to G4) He may be a big, scary, green ogre to the rest of the world, but as the story reveals, he's really just a big fellow with a big heart. Shrek needs to be a solid singer, and most importantly, an excellent actor with comedic chops.
( vocal range: Gb2 to F#4) She may appear to be an ideal princess straight from the fairy tale books, but there is more to her than that stereotypical image. She is an audacious young lady with a wonderful sense of humor andsurprisingly-manners akin to those of a teenage boy. We need a girl who can do it al: act, sing and dance. This is a premiere role for an experienced performer with a loveable spirit.
(vocal range: A3 to Eb4) A very short man with gargantuan ambition! He is solely interested in gaining as much power as possible. This is a role for a good singer, but most importantly, a fantastic comedian who isn't afraid of making bold choices or looking silly.
(vocal range: D3 to E4) A brash, loud, fast-talking animal with no concept of "quiet time." This is a great role for an experienced performer who can sing well and has a whole lot of presence and character. Donkey complements Shrek well as his loyal and ever-faithful sidekick.
(vocal range: G2 to F4) A breakout role for a performer with a lot of soul and spunk. She is a ferocious fire-breathing dragon but finds a surprising love in Donkey. This performer should have tremendous presence and a good pop singing voice.
