Additional info: Song Selection: • Please prepare 16–32 bars (about 45 seconds - 1 minute) of a song in the style of the show. • Musical theatre is preferred, but contemporary selections are also welcome if they show off your character and vocal range. • Bring clearly marked sheet music for the accompanist or find a karaoke track of the song you want to audition with. What to Expect: • Be ready for a cold reading from the script. • Will also teach a short dance/movement combo at the audition, so wear or bring clothes and shoes you can move in. Voice: Mezzo-Soprano (strong belt) Description: The delightfully morbid daughter, now a teenager in love. She’s struggling to balance her macabre heritage with her desire for “normal” love. Audition Look-For: Strong belt with attitude and emotional depth. Needs to sell both deadpan comedy and sincere vulnerability. Physical expressiveness is a plus.
Voice: Tenor (unchanged or changed voice depending on age) Description: Wednesday’s younger brother, a lovable troublemaker who enjoys being tortured by his sister. Quirky, energetic, and oddly adorable. Audition Look-For: Comedic timing, clear diction, and a playful energy. Ability to be both creepy and endearing. Strong vocal confidence, even if the role is non-belt.
Voice Types: All voice types (SATB ensemble) Description: The ghostly Addams family ancestors, dressed in various period costumes. They support the story like a Greek chorus and appear in most scenes. Audition Look-For: Strong dancers and vocal ensemble performers. Must be able to hold harmonies and perform precise choreography with character. Directors often use this group to showcase creativity and individuality.
