Child Auditions for Musical Production "The Wizard of Oz"
Auditions are open for children for the musical production of "The Wizard of Oz." See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Come along with Dorothy and her little dog Toto as they follow the Yellow Brick Road through the magical Land of Oz! They’re on their way to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard of Oz for help getting back home. Along the way, Dorothy meets all kinds of amazing characters—some nice and some not so nice—like good and wicked witches, tiny Munchkins, talking trees, and flying monkeys! But the best part of her adventure is meeting three special friends: a Scarecrow who wants a brain, a Tin Man who wishes for a heart, and a Lion who hopes to be brave. Together, they discover that the things they were looking for were inside them all along. Their adventure shows how friendship, kindness, and courage can shine even in a world full of surprises. Additional info: Please note: there is a production fee applied. Auditions for all 4th- 6th grade students Some students will be asked to return Thursday, August 28, for callbacks. There may be an additional callback on Friday, August 29th, if needed. Students should prepare to sing about 20 seconds of a Wizard of Oz song. You can listen to these songs in the attachment. Next, students should choose one of the Wizard of Oz monologues (on pages 4-5 of this document) to perform. It is better if it is memorized, but doesn’t have to be exact. Just make sure to do your best. Not all characters are represented, so choose a monologue that allows you to showcase your acting talents! Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 pm. Starting November 3rd, we begin stage rehearsals and will rehearse every day until the show opens on November 14th. Please see the attachment for details. If you are interested please apply.
