Young Talent Needed for "Cats" Show
Looking for actors, singers and dancers, age 14+ for all principal and ensemble roles for the "Cats" show. Please, see the details below. Additional information: A limited number of ensemble roles for youth, age 8-13 are also available. Non-traditional casting will be considered, any vocal type that can sing the part is welcome to audition for preferred roles. Location: Chatham. PERFORMANCE DATES: NOV 13-15, 2025. Please prepare one musical theatre style song that showcases both both your voice and ability to portray a strong character. Songs from other Andrew Lloyd Webber shows are encouraged, but not required. Do not sing a song from the show. Pianist and bluetooth speaker will be provided.

The wise and benevolent elderly Jellicle leader who is beloved by the tribe. Wise,calm, spiritual, commanding, fairly lively but moves slowly. Main Songs: Old Deuteronomy, Moments of Happiness, Ad-ressing of the Cats. High Baritone/Tenor.
The narrator of the show, host of the Jellicle Ball, and young leader of the tribe. Intense, energetic, brave and level-headed. Prominent Singing Parts In: The Naming of Cats, Gumbie Cat, Old Deuteronomy, Jellicle Ball, Pekes & Pollicles. Baritone.
A flashy and unappeasable cat who loves to be the centre of attention. Cocky, flirtatious, charismatic with wild anarchic energy. Requires a strong “rock” vocal quality and falsetto. Main Songs: RumTumTugger, Magical Mr. Mistoffelees, Old Deuteronomy Rock Tenor.
A former "glamour cat", ostracized by the Jellicles, who has lost her sparkle and now only wants to be accepted. Desperate, wistful, a lost soul who is attempting to regain dignity and acceptance from the tribe that has shunned her. An iconic role requiring a strong actress and vocalist. Main Song: Memory. Mezzo with a powerful belt to E-flat.
a.k.a. the Old Gumbie Cat – The eccentric aunt (or uncle) of the tribe. Goofy, nurturing, a bossy “do-gooder”. Bonus if actor can tap dance (or be willing to learn some basic tap for the show). Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, Bustopher Jones. Mezzo/Soprano.
A troubled and skittish cat who realizes Macavity’s deception. Cautious and sensual; jittery and impulsive. Should be able to move well. Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, Macavity the Mystery Cat. Alto.
Flirty and confident, sensual with loads of self-assurance. Best friends with Demeter - the two share an intense hatred for Macavity. Should be able to move well. Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, Bustopher Jones, Macavity the Mystery Cat. Mezzo.
A warm and protective cat who watches out for the kittens and takes care of Gus. Practical and cheerful. Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, Bustopher Jones, Gus the Theatre Cat. Soprano.
a.k.a. the Railway Cat – Spunky, meticulous, fun-loving and very animated. An upbeat, quirky and active tabby cat. Requires a good character actor. Main Song: Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat. High Baritone or Tenor.
The “washed up has-been” in the tribe. Comedically elderly, fragile, sweet, tired theatre actor. Main Songs: Gus the Theatre Cat, Pekes and Pollicles. Baritone or Tenor.
A mischievous troublemaker, one-half of a notorious duo of cat burglars along with Rumpleteazer. Rambunctious, fun-loving prankster, small-time crook who enjoys being naughty. A physical role, some clowning or acrobatic skills a bonus, but not required. Main Song: Mungojerrie & Rumpleteazer. Baritone.

An upper-class cat who is respected by all. The “aristocrat” of the tribe. Foppish and dapper, loves to flaunt their status. A featured singing cat with strong “character voices” and ability to sing “mock opera”. Baritone or Tenor.
The conjuring cat, the “magician” of the tribe. Clever, impish, neat, a competitive show-off of a cat. Requires strong dancing ability. Featured dance number: Magical Mister Mistoffelees. Baritone.
The “mystery cat” antagonist of the tribe. Aggressive, intense, violent and menacing. A looming presence and malevolent criminal mastermind who enjoys breaking the law - inspired by Professor Moriarty - Sherlock Holmes’ nemesis. Should be a strong mover. Featured dance number: Macavity’s Fight. Tenor/Baritone.
The youngest cat/kitten. Innocent, sweet and compassionate, and full of “childlike wonder”. Playful. Becomes the first cat to accept Grizabella. Will consider Youth for this role. Main Singing Part: Prelude & Reprise of Memory. Soprano.
Fraternal twin of Coricopat. Both of them are perceived as intuitive or even psychic as they are the first among the tribe to sense the presence of strangers. Mezzo-Soprano.
Fraternal twin of Tantomile. Both of them are intuitive or even psychic, perfectly synchronised in their movements and nearly identical in appearance. Baritone.
a.k.a. the White Cat – A naive and shy cat who is known for her beauty and poise. She is a featured dancer, opening with a dance solo after "The Naming of the Cats" and is the first character to touch Grizabella. Strong ballet and jazz technique an asset. Featured dance number: Jellicle Ball. Mezzo-Soprano.
