Rate: Actor Stipend $100 About the project: Blood Brothers, the musical, is set in London 1960's -1980's and revolves around twin boys Mickey and Edward. With seven older siblings, their mother, Mrs. Johnstone, cannot afford to keep both babies and she agrees to give one away to the wealthy Mrs. Lyons. Separated at birth, they are brought up in completely different environments within the city. When they are seven years old, Mickey and Edward meet each other for the first time and realize they share a birthday. They immediately become best friends and blood brothers but are still unaware of their true relationship. They stay close as they grow up and the bond between them remains strong, despite both being in love with Mickey's neighbor and friend, Linda. However, the difference in their backgrounds soon threatens their friendship and pulls them in different directions. Mrs. Johnstone is finally forced to reveal that Mickey and Edward are twins, ultimately leading to their tragic deaths. Written during a period of huge changes in society and politics, Blood Brothers draws the audience's attention to the detrimental effect that social inequality can have on people's lives and resonates loudly even in today's society. If you are auditioning for Mickey and/or Edward, please submit both younger and older sides. You are welcome to submit for more than one role. Please make note of the appropriate Liverpool accent for the upper and lower classes on both sides and attached sheet music. We need to believe you are a young child in those sides so play with the character choices while staying believable. Linda begins the musical as a tomboyish young girl, but quickly morphs into an object of desire for both twin brothers. At the beginning of her adolescence, she only has eyes for Mickey, even telling him she loves him long before their first kiss.
