Seeking Teens for "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"
Seeking talents ages 16 and up for "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Auditionees will sign up for an initial 30-minute audition time slot. You will be called in one at a time into the audition room and will start with your prepared vocal audition. This whole process is expected to take around 5 minutes or less. Auditionees will also sign up for the dance call. Vocal audition: Please prepare a one-minute music cut of your choosing that fits the stylings of this show (50-60s pop/rock songbook). Please take into consideration the vocal ranges and styling of the parts that you are interested in. You are welcome to sing from the show as well. If possible, please provide sheet music, taped together to avoid page turns and marked clearly for your accompanist. A cappella auditions are discouraged. If you are unable to get access to sheet music, you can use a karaoke track of your song instead. You also may be asked to sing a few scales to check your range. Cold reading: Auditionees will not need to prepare any readings. Following your vocal audition, you may be asked to do a cold reading. Directors will provide sides (cold readings) to you at your audition if they want to hear you read for specific part(s). If you do not get asked to do a cold reading, it does not mean you will not be considered for a role; directors just do not need to hear you. Dance Call: The open dance call will be on May 10th at 5 pm before callbacks. Everyone who auditioned should plan to attend the open dance call. Please plan to arrive by 4:45 so you can stretch and be ready to start at 5 pm. Please wear comfortable clothing that will not inhibit your movement (no jeans, please). Jewelry such as long earrings or necklaces should not be worn. Dance shoes such as jazz, ballet, or character shoes are preferred (tennis shoes can also be worn if needed). If you are unable to attend the open dance call, please indicate this on your audition form. You may be asked to submit a dance video. Callbacks and casting: At the dance call, directors will let you know if you need to stay for callbacks, which take place immediately following. Rehearsals will tentatively start on June 1st. Directors anticipate having 4-5 rehearsals a week. July 26th - August 3rd will be tech and performances; conflicts will likely not be permitted during this time. Note: 16-17 year old auditionees need to have parent/guardian consent. If interested, please apply.
