Casting Call for Boys and Girls for Upcoming Plays

Casting kids ages 7-16 for "Monsters Under the Bed" and "Bringing Down the House" Shows. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the projects: "MONSTERS UNDER THE BED" Stephanie’s having a sleep-over with her friends when they are joined by her young cousin Melissa, who can’t get to sleep because she’s afraid of the dark. But soon the monsters come out from under the bed and no one can get to sleep. As each girl describes her own personal fear, those fears come to life as Crumplebump (the funny noises monster), The Final Freak (the math test monster), Big Bad Boom (the thunderstorm monster), and several other terrifying creatures of the night. The girls help each other overcome their fears, and with some help from Stephanie’s older sister Cathy and her monster friend Gruntable, the other monsters are banished. Conceived and written by a group of grade school and high school students, this play is sure to appeal to anyone who’s ever been afraid to get out of bed in the middle of the night. "BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE" Jules, Sydney, and Elliot have some big dreams. An up-and-coming musical team, they’ve rented a creaky old theater for six weeks to mount a production of their new show. Top Broadway investors are slated to attend, so the team is going to need every minute to rehearse the musical. To their dismay, they discover that the theater is scheduled for demolition the very next day, and they don’t have the money to rent another venue! There’s only one thing to do: throw the show together in just two hours and present it to any investors who can make it on such short notice. And so the rehearsal begins. But every time a performer gets ready to sing and the music starts to swell, someone bursts into the theater and cuts the song off! There’s the annoying child actor who desperately wants to be in the show, a group of very confused protesters, a pushy politician seeking a splashy photo op, and of course, the bumbling demo crew themselves. Additional info: No prepared materials are necessary! There is no hard division line between casts based on age - instead directors make this determination by ability and which show will provide the best theatrical experience for each child. Children in the 11-13 range may be asked to read for either production, regardless of which level time slot they sign up for. Rehearsals begin April 9 at Illini Bluffs High School in Glasford.
