Talent ages 12 and up are invited to audition for "Hairspray" Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire - to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do! Additional info: Please prepare 32 bars of song in the style of the show. You may also sing from the show. All actors should sign up for one singing slot and one dance call slot. Actors should arrive dressed to move. Please bring a physical copy of your headshot, resume, and sheet music to the audition. "Hairspray" will rehearse on Tuesdays, Thursdays (6:30-9:30), and Sundays (12:00-5:00) beginning April 22nd. More rehearsals will be added for Tech Week leading up to the first performance weekend, beginning Thursday, June 5th and leading up to the opening night. Performances will take place on the following dates: Weekend One- Thursday, June 12th & Friday, June 13th @ 7:30pm Saturday, June 14th & Sunday, June 15th @ 3:00pm Weekend Two- Thursday, June 19th & Friday, June 20th @ 7:30pm Saturday, June 21st & Sunday, June 22nd @ 3:00pm If interested, please apply.
