Casting Teen Performers for "The World You Thought" Play
Seeking performers ages 16 and up for "The World You Thought" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Eight teenagers have different reasons for attending summer camp for spiritual growth - but they quickly find themselves confronting each other and the nature of their beliefs. Ronnie, an unsure girl escaping from a stressful home life, finds herself drawn to Gryffin, who promises to show her a world she didn’t know existed and awaken her inner power. But she’ll have to contend with Lizzy, Gryffin’s girlfriend who isn’t ready to share her true love’s attention - or to let Ronnie learn his biggest secret. As the campers are guided through exercises and rituals designed to help them crystallize their beliefs, opinions begin to clash and lead to dangerous rifts and revelations. The potent cocktail of no parents, no cell phones, and a brand new world of ideas creates an environment ripe for manipulation, betrayal, and hurt. No one will emerge unscathed as Ronnie and the other campers attempt to control the uncertain magic of their transformation and discover what the truth is - and who’s telling it. Additional info: Auditions will involve cold readings from the scripts. If interested, please apply.

New at camp this year; her parents signed her up after she had a mental breakdown. Good student, exacting, unsure of what she believes about the world and seeking answers. Susceptible to suggestion. Will do a lot of things to find a sense of belonging.
Moves through the world like he runs it. He exudes power, charisma, wry humor, and a disregard for authority. This camp is a playground where he figures out how people work and how to manipulate that knowledge. Actor also plays RYAN, a boy who lives quite literally rent-free in Gryffin’s head. Ryan is insecure, bitter, stuck in the past, but has a romantic streak and a desire for connection. These two struggle to get along with each other.
Her parents run the camp and she’s Gryffin’s girlfriend. These are the major poles of her identity when she’s operating as the big fish in this small pond. Exudes total coolness and unflappability until you dig in deep enough to the part of her that feels like she has no control over the things she really cares about. Poetic, intuitive, jealous, protective, willing to go to lengths she might not be aware of to hang onto what she feels belongs to her.
One of the camp’s counselors. Grew up in an extremely religious Christian environment but realized he was gay when he was 16. After his former church kicked him out because of his sexuality, he is questioning his Christian beliefs and trying to build a new spiritual foundation. Optimistic, burdened, funny, fumbling, prone to messy experiments in the name of self-discovery. Energy level at baseline 140%.
The most rule-abiding person you’ll ever meet. Thinks he has everything figured out. Moralistic, officious, and a tattletale but his obsession with order is rooted in feeling a lack of control over the world around him and an inability to move on from past mistakes. He needs to get unstuck.
A pathological liar and embellisher. Her tall tales are meant to paper over her upbringing and hunger for importance. Theatrical, noisy, big-gestured, utterly without an inner sense of self. Hopes you won’t notice that she doesn’t know what she’s doing.
Wants to be famous more than anything. An influencer on social media who will not respond well to the no-phones rule at camp. Alpha, flirty, persuasive, easily distracted, a rule-breaker, more fluid in his desires than he realizes. Always on the prowl.
