Audition for "HONK! The Musical. Auditioners should be 14 years and older. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: HONK! is a heartwarming and humorous musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Ugly Duckling." The story follows Ugly, a duckling who is different from the others, as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Along the way, he encounters a variety of colorful characters, including a scheming cat, a wise-cracking frog, and a beautiful swan. Through his adventures, Ugly learns to embrace his individuality and find his place in the world. Additional info: For this audition, please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song, lasting no more than a minute. While songs from HONK! are not prohibited, we encourage exploring other musical selections in the style of the show. More information can be found on the form. Tenor (Bb2 - G#4). Moderate Dancer. The title character, an awkward and misunderstood duckling. Despite his appearance, he possesses a kind heart and a strong will. His journey of self-discovery and acceptance is the heart of the show.
Baritone (C3 - Bb4). Strong and Skilled Dancer. The cunning and mischievous antagonist of the story. He plots to eat Ugly and creates chaos throughout the farmyard. A selfish deceiver & slick talker. Sees himself as smarter than most others. In the end, is almost pitiful as he goes a bit mad.
Mezzo-Soprano (G#4 - C#5). Strong mover. A gossipy and nosy friend of Ida's. She loves to spread rumors and drama.
Mezzo-Soprano. Strong mover. Indoor Chicken/Highbrow & Cultured person. Best friend and companion pet to Queenie.
Tenor (A2 - G4). Strong Mover. A pompous and arrogant goose who leads a flock of geese. He is often condescending and judgmental. Aging flyer & pilot / mature goose.
Baritone (A2 - F#4). Strong Dancer. A wise and philosophical frog who offers guidance and support to Ugly. He is a source of comic relief and wisdom. He recognizes Ugly as a person with value and encourages him to be exactly who he’s made to be and enjoy it.
Baritone. Mover. The headmaster of the duckling school. He is a bit of a pompous figure who is often seen worrying about the future. Friend of Drake. A quirky individual, looking for approval & respect.
Mezzo-Soprano. Mover. A vain and self-centered duck who is obsessed with her appearance. She is often mean-spirited and judgmental. Presiding elder of the community.
