Seeking ages 8-18 years old for "The Little Mermaid Jr." Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Please prepare a one-minute or 32-bar cut that best showcases your voice and demonstrates a connection to the character you are auditioning for. Alternatively, please feel free to sing one of the callback cuts linked in the audition forms. The material in the folder is also what will be sung/read at callbacks. A speaker will be provided, and if you do not have a cell phone, directors can pull up the karaoke track for you. Callbacks are: Sunday, March 16th from 12:00-2:30 pm Show dates: May 22nd- 26th (Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday matinee and night, and Sunday matinee) Rehearsals: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 & Sundays from 1:30-3:30 Tech Week: Sunday, May 18th- Wednesday, May 21st The first rehearsal will be on March 19th from 5:30-7:30 PM. Ariel is the adventurous and curious mermaid who dreams of living in the human world. She is full of wonder and determination, making her the heart of the story. She is King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hard-headed, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted.
Description: A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Vocal Range: B3–D5
Description: A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Vocal Range: Bb3–D5
The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive. Ursula is bold, theatrical, and larger than life. Vocal Range: F3–C#5
Ariel’s loyal best friend, a sweet and slightly timid tropical fish who supports her dreams. He is rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Vocal Range: G3–G4
A disheveled seagull and expert in human artefacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. Vocal Range: B3–G4
King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. Key Songs: No solo singing required
