About the project: Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing is a lively romantic comedy filled with witty banter, mistaken identities, and deception. The story follows two contrasting couples: Benedick and Beatrice, whose sharp tongues mask their deep affection, and Claudio and Hero, whose love is tested by malicious lies. The meddling villain, Don John, falsely accuses Hero of infidelity, leading to heartbreak and scandal. Meanwhile, friends conspire to trick Benedick and Beatrice into confessing their love. In the end, the truth is revealed, love triumphs, and the play concludes with joy and celebration. Additional info: Please note: there is a production fee applied. Prepare: -1-2 minute Shakespearean monologue (preferably comedic for Benedick, Beatrice, or Dogberry; dramatic for Hero, Claudio, or Don John). -Monologue should showcase strong character choices, clear diction, and emotional depth. Cold Readings: -Actors will be given short scenes from the play to read with a scene partner. Singing Ability: -Those interested in singing parts (such as Balthasar) may prepare a short a cappella song. Availability & Conflicts: -Be prepared to list of all known conflicts for rehearsals Additional Notes: -No prior Shakespeare experience is required, but familiarity with the text is encouraged. -Dress comfortably and be ready to move. -Have fun and show your personality—this play thrives on energy and humor!
