Vocal range - Soprano/Mezzo. A smart, brave, and clever young woman who is trying to make the most of each day even though she has lost so much. While she is very timid and often tries to blend in with the scene around her, she understands that there is a time she has to stand up and do what is necessary. Vocal Range - Tenor/Bass Bastian is a Duke and member of the royal court. He was Ella’s childhood friend and partner in crime. Vocal Range - Alto Lucienne is a countess at court whom Ella is assigned to serve. She is clever, scheming, and possibly responsible for the death of one or two of her husbands. She will do anything to ensure her future and the future of her two daughters- including stooping to some truly heinous crimes. Vocal Range - Soprano Kylia is a princess from the neighboring country brought to marry the prince in a political treaty. It is a loveless, arranged match and she misses her home greatly. She is a sweet soul who is doing this because she knows the consequences of her not accepting would be horrible for her people. Vocal range - Tenor/Bass One of the butlers in the palace, Everett has an active imagination and an adventurous spirit. But he is also loyal to a fault and would do anything for his friends or someone in need, which wins him many friends. He’s brave and hardworking, despite his aversion to sweeping floors. Vocal range - Tenor/Bass One of the butlers in the palace, Henry is quick witted and has a heart of gold. Often seen with his friends Everett and Anthony, he’s willing to help out his friends and the prince in any way he can. He’s quieter than the other butlers but when it comes down to it he’s willing to jump in and do what he can. Vocal range - Soprano/Alto The head of the palace kitchens, Sophia is a no nonsense ‘let’s get things done’ type of boss. While her focus is on keeping the kitchens running like a well oiled machine, that’s not to say she doesn’t love and care for the others she works with. Vocal Range - Soprano/Alto One of the kitchen maids, Adelaide is a hopeless romantic who tries to find a story in everything. Always willing to help, but sometimes gets in a bit too far over her head. She’s good friends with the butlers and Sophia’s right hand when it comes to kitchen duties. Vocal range - Soprano/Alto One of the kitchen maids, Corina is the one who’s always listening for new information or gossip. She’s bubbly, sweet, and a glass-half-full type of character. She’s also friends with the butlers but is often exasperated by their antics and their procrastination. Vocal range - any The narrator of the story. Sarcastic, funny, and no-nonsense when explaining the plot and important points of the story. Is also self aware that they’re in a fairy tale. Vocal range - Tenor/Bass The prince. Son of the king who overthrew Ella’s father, he wants nothing more than to be rid of his title and just be. He doesn’t want to marry Kylia, he doesn’t want to be king. He just wants to live his life but feels as though everyone is pulling him in different directions.
