"Hairspray" Teen Audition for the Theater
Teen auditions for the theater production of "Hairspray"! See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire - to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do! Additional info: Performance dates are August 8-10th & 15-17th and are required. Middle school aged actors under 16 are still encouraged to audition with parental consent. Actors will be required to do a cold read during stated audition dates. Actors also need to prepare a 60-second song excerpt from a musical of your choice. You may sing a cappella or provide your own accompaniment. (If you are auditioning for a specific role, we encourage you to refer to the suggested song list.) Also, be sure to come dressed and ready for a dance call. (tennis shoes, leggings, shorts, etc.) You will learn 30-45 seconds of choreography, and will perform it with a group in front of the directors. If you are interested please apply.
