About the project: 9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworksers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy - giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she? Additional info: Performance Dates: April 4 - 20, 2025 Callbacks at Director's discretion, Sunday, January 26 / 11:00a - 5:00p First read-thru, Sunday, February 2, 12:00p - 5:00p Bring a physical copy of your headshot and resume to the audition. Prepare 16 bars of a Broadway song, and bring your own device with the instrumental-only music. There will be no piano accompaniment. Songs from 9 to 5 in the Musical are acceptable. If you have a preferred character in mind, a song by that character is fine. Please dress comfortably and bring shoes you are comfortable dancing in as you will be learning a short dance combination. NO bare feet, NO stocking feet. Know your conflicts when you fill out the audition form: vacations, work, school, etc. ABSOLUTELY NO ABSENCES March 31 - April 20, 2025. For the character breakdown, the ages mentioned for each character do not mean that you need to be that age, but that you can "play" that age, and all casting will be age-appropriate to the characters. One of the firm's executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is capable of faking charm but usually shows his true colors as an arrogant, self-absorbed boss. Vocal Range: C3-Gb4
The attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has an unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval. Vocal Range: G3-C5
A handsome, young office accountant. Genuine and nice, and smitten with Violet. Vocal Range: B2-G4
