"Fiddler On The Roof" Needs Boys and Girls
"Fiddler On The Roof" Show is looking for performers ages 8 and up. Please see the details below. About the project: Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness. This show perfectly fits in Harbor Playhouse’s 100th-year season as we celebrate the traditions that have brought us this far. Additional info: Dance: You will be taught a new dance with the choreographer. She will teach you as a group, then small groups will perform the dance. Directors know this dance is brand new to everyone, so directors aren’t looking for perfection. This is your chance to show directors your stage presence and performance skills! If you have jazz shoes or ballet slippers, bring them to learn the dance. If you don’t own dance shoes, closed-toe sneakers will do. Please do not wear sandals or crocs. Music: Below is all the information and resources you need for the audition cuts. Please practice and prepare them ahead of time - we like to see how well you can prepare on your own. It is recommended to memorize the audition cut, but not required. Everyone will have a chance to do vocal warm-ups and sing the audition cut a few times with the full group. After that, auditioners will be lined up in numerical order to sing the audition cut on their own. Sheet music & reference recordings of the cuts are attached. The reference recordings are just so you can hear an example of how the cut sounds, you will be singing on your own with the accompaniment tracks from youtube links further down. If you are open to any role or going for one not listed, choose which cut fits your voice best. Young boys who have not had a voice change yet can sing Matchmaker or one of the males cuts up the octave. Girls ages 11-15 should sing Matchmaker. Girls ages 8-11 will only be dancing, so you don’t need to prepare a singing cut. Please complete the audition form attached and bring a list of conflicts you might have. You must be available for all show dates. A draft of the rehearsal calendar will be available for you to view at auditions. If needed callbacks will happen after auditions on January 12th. If interested, please apply.
