About the project: Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved story, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been reimagined for the stage with a new book and score by David Greig, Marc Shaiman, and Scott Wittman. The musical follows Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who wins a Golden Ticket to Willy Wonka's magical chocolate factory. Along with the other ticket winners-Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, and Augustus Gloop-Charlie explores the wonders and dangers of the factory. But as the other children fall victim to their own greed, Charlie's humble nature earns him a life-changing reward from Mr. Wonka. Additional info: Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for the entire season (January-March). Tuesdays and Thursdays begin at 6:30 pm and are usually only for certain cast members. Saturdays typically begin at 1:00 pm and Sundays typically begin at 1:30 pm and are for the ENTIRE CAST. Toward the end of the season, Sunday rehearsals may begin earlier to prepare for dress rehearsals (makeup and costumes). A “Friday Night Light” Rehearsal will be held one week prior to the show as well, starting at 6:30. Special dance rehearsals may also be held as needed on Saturday mornings. Please mark your calendars and try your best to attend all necessary rehearsals. Performances: The dates for the show are always Thursday, Friday, and Saturday during the first weekend of March. There is a show starting at 7:00 pm each night, with a Saturday matinee beginning at 2:00 pm (4 shows total). For more information, please download the audition packet attached. Vicious and determined. A spoiled and bratty young girl who also discovers a Golden Ticket. Veruca is used to getting anything she wants and throws tantrums when she doesn't. She symbolizes the vice of greed. *Russian Accent may be required*
Sassy, forceful, rude. Takes advantage of others, full of attitude. Violet is a world-champion gum chewer and boasts of her accomplishments. She embodies the sin of pride. "Queen of Pop" is a pop-inspired song, reflecting Violet's obsession with fame and her belief that she is the best. The song incorporates modern pop elements and catchy hooks.
