Teen auditions for "Cats" musical production. Details below. About the project: The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life. And so, begins our introduction to the cats. One by one they step forward to audition for the role, to be chosen to make the special journey to be reborn. Additional info: Callbacks (By Invitation Only): - Sunday, January 5th: 1 - 4pm Rehearsals: - Rehearsals start Monday, January 6th - Monday through Friday 7 - 10 pm Performance Dates (MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL PERFORMANCE DATES): - March 22nd, 8pm - March 23rd, 2pm - March 29th, 2pm - March 30th, 2pm - April 5th, 8pm - April 6th, 2pm - April 12th, 2pm - April 12th, 8pm - April 13th, 2pm - April 19th, 2pm - April 19th, 8pm - April 25th, 8pm - April 26th, 2pm - April 26th, 8pm - April 27th, 2pm - No show on April 20th - Easter Sunday The Audition: - Ages 16 and over preferred - Prepare one-minute of music from a show OTHER THAN CATS that showcases your range and vocal ability. - Please bring your own track on a personal device to connect with our sound system. - Please wear comfortable clothes as choreography will be learned at auditions. - Please bring a resume and headshot if you have one. - ALL RACES/ETHNICITIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION! Lead, Alto/Mezzo. A former "glamour cat," ostracized by the Jellicles, who has lost her sparkle and now only wants to be accepted. Requires a strong actress and vocalist.
Lead, Baritone. The storyteller and protector of the Jellicle tribe. Old Deuteronomy's second-in-command and the show's main narrator. Good dancer.
(A.K.A. GUS THE THEATRE CAT) Supporting, Tenor An elderly cat whose paws tremble from old age; he spends his time reminiscing about his past exploits when he used to be a famous theatre actor.
Supporting, Baritone. A fat upper-class cat who is respected by all. Good dancer.
Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano. A troubled and skittish cat; she is best friends with Bombalurina and the two share an intense hatred for Macavity. Good dancer.
Supporting, Soprano. A queen who watches out for the kittens and takes care of Gus. Good dancer.
Supporting, Soprano. The youngest kitten. Sweet and compassionate, sings alongside Grizabella in "Memory (Reprise)." Good dancer.
Supporting, Soprano. She is seemingly lazy, but at night she becomes active. A.K.A. the Old Gumbie Cat. Partial dancing cat, needs to move well.
Supporting, Baritone. A mischievous troublemaker, one-half of a notorious duo with Rumpleteazer. Good dancer.
Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano. A mischievous troublemaker, one-half of a notorious duo with Mungojerrie. Good dancer.
Supporting, Baritone. An upbeat and active cat who lives on the mail trains; quirky, requires a good character actor. Good dancer.
Supporting, Baritone. A flashy cat who loves the center of attention. A show off with a range from clownish to serious. Dancer.
Supporting, Baritone. Is a young black-and-white tuxedo cat with magical powers that he cannot yet fully control. Needs to be an excellent dancer (preferable with ballet training).
Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano. Flirty and confident; best friends with Demeter and the two share an intense hatred for Macavity. Good dancer.
Featured, Baritone. The show's only real villain and a literary allusion to the Sherlock Holmes character Professor Moriarty. Possibly be a strong dancer with classical ballet training and be able to do lifts.
Featured, Baritone. A playful kitten often performing acrobatics as well as being a strong dancer.
Featured, Mezzo-Soprano. Female twin of Coricopat; perfectly synchronized in their movements and nearly identical in appearance.
