Casting Teen Performers for "Radium Girls" Play

Rock Springs, WY, United States
ID: 577340Exp: 11/23/2024
Description:

Casting Call for Teen Performers for the Play "Radium Girls." Please find the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The play is based on the true story of the dial painters who applied radium to glow-in-the-dark instrument panels and watches. The painters, who were young women from poor and immigrant backgrounds, were told to use their lips to ensure that the brushes had a sharp point. This meant that they were some of the first to learn radium was deadly, regardless of the companies promoting it as safe. As the young women began to succumb to aggressive cancers, the survivors faced corporate denial and pushback to remain silent. Nevertheless, a handful of brave women decided to use their remaining time to speak publicly and seek legal vindication despite the pressures of family, society, and their own failing bodies. “This is a timely and powerful play about the ways that large companies and their pursuit of profit can cause harm. More than that, it’s about the power that determined, persistent individuals can have when they decide to stand up for what they believe,” Director Heather E. Pristash said. Additional info: No preparation is necessary to audition. "Radium Girls" performances are scheduled for Feb. 28 to March 3 and March 6-8 at. If you are interested please apply.
