Mezzo-Soprano; Despite the casting by some productions, Dorothy is supposed to be a schoolgirl, not a young woman. She can be intimidated and is often fearful. She is a sweet, innocent country girl. She loves her dog, her aunt and uncle, and the 3 farm hands, who are like uncles to her. She’s protective and compassionate.
Featured, non-singing; Leader of the Flying Monkeys. They speak in an unintelligible language and respect the Wicked Witch’s power, but they are also willing to challenge her.
