Looking to cast boys and girls for the "Bright Star" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Inspired by a true story and featuring a Tony-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Bright Star is a story of love and redemption that takes place in the 1920s and 40's American South. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past and what she finds has the power to transform both powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion. Additional info: CALLBACKS Thursday, October 24th, 2024 7:30 pm-10:00 pm Callbacks. VOCAL AUDITION: Prepare a one-minute cut of a Folk or Bluegrass Song in the style of Bright Star. Please, select a cut that shows off a wide vocal range and strong storytelling ability. Please, provide your own sheet music that is clearly marked for the accompanist. No Acapella auditions will be heard. DANCE AUDITION: Bring comfortable attire to change into for this portion of the audition. Character heels, jazz shoes, and comfortable sneakers are permitted. Baggy and loose-fitting clothing is not recommended. Dance auditions will be held at 9:00 pm both Preliminary Audition Nights. CALLBACKS: Be prepared to cold-read sides from the libretto. Those attending the callbacks will be asked to sing selections from the Bright Star Score. If interested, please apply. Once your interest is received, you will be provided with a scheduled vocal audition slot. Everyone is required to attend the dance audition. The dance audition will follow your scheduled preliminary vocal audition at 9:00 pm.
