The hero. Imaginative and adventurous boy who must battle school bullies and convince his parents to buy him the perfect Christmas gift. His last true year as a child. Observant but not always perceptive, obedient but willing to bend the rules. He knows how to tell a joke and can get out of any tricky situation and loves to perform.
Ralphie's little brother, smaller than Ralphie; cuter the better. Can be a bit awkward and offbeat. Admires Ralphie but won't admit it.
Ralphie's friend and classmate. Class clown, know-it-all, seems spoiled by a dad who is a larger version of himself. He's the kid who gets his tongue stuck to the pole.
Ralphie's friend and classmate. More of a wise-guy than Ralphie, seems in competition with Flick. Smarter than both Ralphie and Flick, he's the kid who "double dog dares" Flick to stick his tongue to the pole.
A Meanie the bully. There's nothing about him you want to like. He's that kid you always made sure to avoid in school. Must be able to create an over-the-top rendition of an adult's exaggerated memory of a bully/monster.
A classmate. Must be able to create a strong presence on stage as a girl of the era. More behaved than the boys, distrustful and disgusted by the behavior of the rougher gender.
