Child and Teen Singing Audition for "Bright Star" Play
Child and teen singing auditions for the play "Bright Star." See details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: What to prepare for auditions: 32 bars of two contrasting songs; bluegrass/country/spiritual/gospel song or in the style of the show. No need to utilize your Appalachian dialect (unless you are completely confident) until callbacks! You can copy/paste the link to your tracks on the audition form (if you don’t have them yet, you can go back and edit your form to add them later) OR You can have your device ready to connect to speakers video Bluetooth, aux cord, or lightning cord (although we don’t recommend it in case we have connection issues) What to prepare for Callbacks: Bring clothes for movement, and partner dancing ; TBD on music. Mezzo-Soprano. Alice at age 16-17 is rebellious, high-spirited, adventurous – looking to break out of small-town life and experience the world. She must be a very strong singer and comfortable in folk and bluegrass styles.
Soprano. A small-town bookstore owner; a childhood friend of Billy’s who now harbors romantic feelings towards him; a natural beauty with a keen intellect.
Soprano. A junior editor at a literary magazine. An ambitious, professional young “modern” career woman of the 1940’s. Strong, forthright, and provocative with a sharp sense of humor.
Tenor, Baritone. An assistant at a literary magazine. Funny, with a dry and officious sense of humor. Insecure, and perhaps a bit socially awkward, but endearing and innately likable.
Mezzo-Soprano. An employee at Margo’s bookstore and a childhood friend of both Billy and Margo.
Mezzo-Soprano. An employee at Margo’s bookstore.
Non-Singer. A customer at Margo’s bookstore, at first, he has a crush on Margo, but later becomes Edna’s beau.
