Teen Singing Audition for "Urinetown: The Musical"

Bristol, IN, United States
ID: 573481Exp: 9/12/2024
Description:

Seeking actors ages 16 and up for "Urinetown: The Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Urinetown is a sidesplitting sendup of greed, love, revolution (and most hilariously, musical theatre itself!) Winner of 3 Tony Awards including Best Book and Best Score. Additional info: Auditions will consist of both a vocal and dance portion followed by a round of callbacks to include readings from the script as well as the potential of additional character-specific vocals. Please bring a list of all potential conflicts from September 16- November 24. *PLEASE NOTE* In addition to its initial run at the Opera House this November, Urinetown is being developed with the intention to compete at the festival in the spring of 2025. For those who have never been a part of the festival experience, it’s a unique and exciting opportunity to keep a cast together for an extended period of time and come together with other theatre makers from across the state and nation to compete with an hour-long cutting of the show. Rehearsals for this cutting would resume sometime in February culminating with the ICTA state festival being held in Goshen the weekend of March 7-9, 2025. Other dates of note: If advance past the state level… March 20-23, 2025- Regionals in Owosso, MI And if directors advance past regionals… June 25-28, 2025- Nationals in Des Moines, IA If you cannot commit to competing in the festival run of the show, that’s okay! Directors still encourage you to come out to audition. You will still be considered for the cast of the initial run. Performances will be held November 15, 16, 22, 23, and 24 at the Bristol Opera House. If interested, please apply.
