Young Talent Wanted for "Legally Blonde" the Musical

Performers age 16 and up are invited to audition for "Legally Blonde" the Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world. Additional info: Vocal Auditions: Please prepare a 32-bar cut or 1-minute cut of a song of your choice and bring piano sheet music for the accompanist. Please ensure the sheet music has written piano accompaniment, not just a melody line. A cappella auditions are discouraged; if singing a cappella directors will ask you to do a range test. When choosing a song – please choose something that you feel best represents you as a vocalist; they would rather hear a well-done song in a different genre, than a song that mimics the show style but you are not comfortable singing. They want to hear you sing as confidently as possible! You will fill out an audition form at your vocal audition. Please be prepared to list any and all known conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. Required Dance Audition: There will be a required dance audition on Wednesday, September 18, 6:30-7:30 pm. Please come in clothes and closed-toed shoes that you can move and dance in. No bare feet or socked feet. Actors will learn a section of a dance as a group and then perform it in small groups. Callbacks: Following the dance call, there will be invited callbacks from 7:30-9:30 pm. Actors will receive an email on the evening of September 17th letting them know if they need to stay for callbacks. Callbacks will consist of singing from the show and possibly reading from the script. Getting a callback does not mean you have been cast, and vice versa. Rehearsals and Performance: Rehearsals will begin the week of October 21 and will be held Monday-Thursday 6:30 pm-9:30 pm. Actors will not be called to every rehearsal and may not be called for the entire rehearsal. Tech week will be December 2-5, and show dates are: Dates of the show are: December 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22.
